Hawaiian Volcanic Red Clay Sea Salt

For centuries, naturally occurring Hawaiian alaea volcanic red clay has been used ritualistically and medically for its healing properties. It’s iron-rich, with a beautiful red hue, and is blended with sea salt harvested off the Kona coast of Hawaii’s Big Island by Sea Salts of Hawaii (you can find their products in the archipelago’s specialty food shops and at some of our favorite hotels). It’s often used to season Kalua pig, but we love it as a finishing salt on steaks, chicken, fish, and crudités.
